To date, this series has gone as follows:
- Season 1 in 2015: 12 episodes + OVA 13th
- Season 2 in 2015: 10 episodes + OVA 11th
- This OVA in 2018
It's a harem show, in every possible sense. The hero, Basara, has ended up with five supernatural girls who live with him, have regular sort-of-sex with him and have no problem with him having to see other girls too. These include two demons, a succubus and two members of the "Hero Tribe".
Oh, and the main girl (Mio) in Basara's harem calls him "big brother" (although they're only step-siblings).
This is one of those shows that's absolute filth, with regular near-sex scenes. (The girls are brought to orgasm, but Basara keeps his shorts on. This looks absurd when everyone's on a bed together having a sixsome.) However you'll only see all that if you're watching the Blu-rays, which have additional dirty scenes. People who saw the broadcast TV episodes don't know what I'm talking about and think it's a perfectly normal anime.
This is an OVA, i.e. straight to video, so there's no censored TV version. It has a naked Zest washing Basara's back with her boobs, the other girls joining in, the succubus using her aphrodisiacs, lots of time spent at an aqua resort (i.e. in swimsuits), sex in public and a woman whose breasts spurt milk when she's sexually aroused. This is biologically absurd, obviously, but in fairness she's not human either.
Things I learned from this anime: a female angel's orgasm involves ejaculating breast milk from her nipples. (Well, it's white. I hope it's milk.)
The thing we'll generously call a plot (eventually) involves Yuki and Kurumi's people summoning them back to the Hero Village. The weird bit is that they also want to see Mio, which is worrying since she's a demon princess. We don't actually see anyone go back there, mind you. They just talk about it, worry about whether it's safe and at one point have a gratuitous fight with a satanic guardian because the writer wanted an action scene.
I'm probably making the film sound like trash, but in fact I quite enjoyed it. It's slice-of-life, really, except that the life in question is borderline hentai. There's enough dramatic weight to stop the film from feeling throwaway, but that's not the focus. It's not plot-driven. Importantly, also, it's likeable. Only one character is questionable and/or sleazy (the succubus) and the others don't let her get away with it. No one's keeping secrets. It's a happy, supportive family. They have unusual bedroom arrangements, but hey. They're all comfortable with it, so who are we to judge? There's no cheating. Even when Basara disappears to keep his promise of 24 sexy hours with an angel, he tells the other girls about that too and they just get on with life while waiting for him to return.
(Humans, on the other hand, aren't in on the secret. Basara's classmates in Tokyo don't seem to know anything when he bumps into them at the aqua resort.)
It's quite warm and nice, albeit also mega-exploitative. I'd watch a third season if they made one. (There's a sequel-hunting line at the end about "your missing past is waiting for you", so you never know.) Basara never taking off his shorts is ridiculous, though.
