Otenki Oneesan
The original manga also spawned two live-action films, of which I've seen the first and wasn't inspired to continue with the second. It's about a terrifying woman called Keiko Nakadai who's violent, bitchy, sleazy and determined to use these qualities to get ahead as a TV weather girl. She strips in her live broadcasts. She turns her professional rival into her sex slave, ordering her to wash Keiko's underwear by licking it clean. This woman sends hit men after her, but she beats them up with karate and unnecessarily chooses to break one of their arms. On spying another potential rival, she charges up and starts screaming in this stranger's face in public, issuing an unprovoked declaration of war.
She's not even sexy. She's got a face like a mako shark and if you met her, you'd flee for your life. She's certainly colourful. Can't take that away from her. She carries the first episode on sheer outrageousness, but after that I got bored. The danger with villain protagonists, obviously, is of losing your audience. You want to be rooting for the anti-hero anyway, despite everything. "He's a bastard, but he's our bastard." That kind of thing. (Or, alternatively, you might hate him so much that you're waiting to see his self-destruction. That could work too.) Here, though... nope, sorry. I didn't care enough either way. Keiko's so lurid and over-the-top ("YOSSSSHAAAA!!!") that she should be entertaining, but my response to her antics in ep.2 was "so what?". Will Bitch Queen #1 triumph over Bitch Queen #2, or vice versa?
Might it have helped if she'd been attractive? It's the lowest possible kind of audience appeal, but if it works... Frankly, though, someone with that personality might never seem sexy, even if you fixed the art style. (You could stab someone to death with those chins.)
This barely counts as hentai. There's hardly even any nudity, let alone sex. (Keiko will lift her skirt and wear outrageous outfits, but that's usually it.) There's a university flashback scene in which Keiko got drunk and put a penis in her mouth, but not in a good way. (She'd been about to vomit and her tooth marks haven't faded years later.) As for that sex slave exploitation, it's all girl-on-girl action that you could get away with on mainstream TV. As a result, these episodes have voice actors with proper non-porn careers and a director who's best known for Pokemon.
If you want an actual hentai with a similar concept, watch Foxy Nudes, aka. Hana no Joshi Announcer: Newscaster Etsuko... but personally I wouldn't recommend that either.
This show isn't a write-off. You can see why the franchise was a surprise hit. It's no-holds-barred in its pursuit of bad taste and worse behaviour, e.g. the laxative gags in ep.1. Yes, I laughed. (Keiko raises the stakes to "gorilla laxative", then sits at home and masturbates to the sight of her victim writhing on live TV.) If you wanted to experience any of this franchise's versions, I suppose of the available options I'd recommend this anime's first episode.
