You might think you know what this film's about. The title creates expectations. It'll be yet another Japanese "Invisible Man" sleaze-fest, right? Well, it is, but it also isn't. Bizarrely, Japan's non-pornographic "Invisible Man" films are worse than its pink ones, although the latter can be terrible too. Mind you, I've barely scratched the surface of the latter. To date, all I've seen is
Invisible Man, Rape! (as ghastly as its title suggests),
Invisible Hentai Man (likeable and romantic),
Oh! Invisible Man (amusing) and its sequel
The Invisible Girl Appears!? (an uneven non-pink sequel to a pink film). I haven't touched, say, the 1970s-80s Molester Invisible Man series or Zetsu-Rin! Invisible Hentai-Man: Second Virgin and Magic Potion (2016).
This film's different to those and barely feels like an Invisible Man movie. Instead, it's very Daisuke Yamanouchi.
Everyone in this film is horrible, in some way or other. The least dodgy is Kitano (Yoshiki Kondo), the elderly president of a general construction company, and even he's a twat who subjects an employee to power harassment and marries a girl nearly forty years younger who'd been coming on heavy in a hostess club. The latter isn't a crime and admittedly Arisa (Akari Niimura) is sultry, but also Kitano goes off the deep end later and does a deal with someone I assumed was Satan. The credits call him "Mysterious Man". Maybe we'll learn more in the sequel film, but that's the likeliest explanation so far. Anyway, Kitano ends up looking for bloody revenge.
That's the film's plan for its Invisible Man scenes. They're not about spying on boobs, but instead about strangling, kitchen knives, taking non-consensual videos and seeing someone get incomprehensibly assaulted by nobody.
The film's early scenes are happy. Kitano's daughter Yuna (Akane Mitani) seems to want to be her stepmother's best friend. They're rich and they have everything they need. Unfortunately, everything's shattered by a man with a balaclava and a knife, while in fact both Yuna and Arisa have bad attitudes and messy sex lives. SPOILER has a criminal boyfriend and is working for him as a prostitute. After they've had sex, she'll let him talk her into going out to service another customer. She doesn't need the money. She's just neutral about the work. Meanwhile, another girl in her boyfriend's brothel looks like a zombie and never reacts, not even during sex. The end credits tell us that the sequel film will involve her and her vengeance-driven sister.
Imagine a bloody, grim, sleazy adaptation of Faust as a revenge tragedy. That's this film. Shag a man and he'll go through your bag while you're asleep and take an imprint of your keys... but the audience will have no sympathy because you'd been such a sneering bitch to him beforehand. I'm also not expecting this film's survivors to be any nicer in the sequel.
"When cursing someone, dig two graves."
