Saint's Magic Power is Omnipotent
It's a light reverse-harem until the heroine finds her bloke, whereupon it's a straightforward romance... but with comedy superpowers. In this show's world, anyone turning 16 gets blessed by an animal god. Sophia Reeler is an overly modest girl who dislikes standing out. Guess how she feels about getting gorilla powers.
In the beginning, that's kind of annoying. Sophia's ungrateful for her super-strength, although admittedly she can't control it yet and might accidentally smash anything she touches. She grows, though. She learns to accept herself and gets better at managing her situation, then in the final episode is pretty damn cool when going apeshit. (A real gorilla couldn't do what she does. Hell, Spider-Man might not have been up to it either.) Her problem is that her foe has the leopard god's blessing, which is a bad match-up. Leopards are assassins. Gorillas are strong, but slower. Leopards do indeed kill and eat gorillas, although they prefer female, sick and/or young ones. Sophia can barely lay a finger on him.
That's only a minority of the show, though. It's about a likeable heroine who's forced to sign up to knight training because a teacher's learned about her gorilla combat abilities, but she'd no such intention before now and her ill-formed career plans had been girlier. Result: she's the only girl in a class of hot boys. Sophia is dismayed by this and thinks the other girls will crush her like a bug if they find out. (In fairness, there's a lot of status-driven bitchiness in this show, with girls capable of emitting Purple Smoking Auras of Malice.) Anyway, the show's light and entertaining. No one's evil. People will have sympathetic backstory, or they'll be won over and become Sophia's allies, or something like that.
This show is simple, but fun. I like its message of learning to accept yourself and I was pleasantly surprised by how quickly it graduated from reverse-harem formula. The cast are likeable and the animal-theming's a laugh. I'm not expecting a second season, but that's okay because this has a satisfying ending that feels correct for the story. I might even end up rewatching this one.
