I've known about this series for years, but I'd always avoided it like the plague. Then, though... (a) I started on a Japanese zombie film marathon, and (b) I learned that Asami's in all five films in this series. (She's not in the sixth one I've just found out about, though, Rape Zombie Side-Story: Hardcore of the Dead.) I love Asami. Obviously, I had to see this after all.
Bloody hell, it's unwatchable.
The beginning is disgusting. Asami plays a housewife who'll get beaten and raped by her husband. Is a crying, bloody face erotic? The TV then tells us that this is happening all over Tokyo. "We interrupt this broadcast for a breaking news report. There has been a sudden outbreak of attacks on women. Rape. Widespread rape. Reporting live from Shinjuku. There is an alarming amount of rapes being reported throughout the metropolitan area. There appears to be a woman being attacked over there at this very moment. The criminals seem to resemble typical salarymen, students, and ordinary civilians. They're assaulting a female student in broad daylight. Another woman is being assaulted over there! How terrible! Hey, is it really okay to be broadcasting this on television? Hey!"
Asami stabs her husband's groin twice with big scary scissors. Good. We then hear the theme song, which is shouting "RAPE ZOMBIE RAPE ZOMBIE RAPE ZOMBIE RAPE".
Sometimes, this film is about the scary women who've survived. (A rape zombie's semen will kill a woman, incidentally.) Asami's character (Kanae) has an assault rifle, as does Yui Aikawa (Tamae). They also have a box of explosives. Alice Ozawa (Nozomi) has a katana. I wouldn't mess with them. Women will take over the government and we'll see a female firing squad executing rapists, but that's scary. That's just normal and sensible, under the circumstances.
Sometimes, though, the film's about nudity, lesbians and above all rape scenes. At least three of the main cast (Asami, Aikawa, Ozawa) are hardcore porn stars. No. Just no. I'm disturbed by the idea that anyone could enjoy this nastiness and I'm terrified by the fact that the series ran for five films. Don't even consider watching this, not even as a joke.
