I'd have really preferred it without the panty shots. They're the opposite of sexy. They're weird and creepy and... okay, there will be people for whom this show is perfect. Everyone else, though, should hurry on past. The show's good-natured and happy, but no.

1. POCHITA = an Akita Inu puppy, which confuses him because he used to be human. There's nothing he can do about it, though. He gets taken in by Karen Inukai (a classmate he'd always had a crush on) and given a new name ("Pochita"). Surprisingly, the show eventually explains how a human became a dog, but it's a silly explanation (as you'd expect) and the show doesn't even do anything with it. However, there's probably more in the original manga (in which apparently Pochita becomes able to swap between being a dog and a human).

The most interesting thing he does in these episodes is to use Inukai's phone to buy something online, hoping to escape when the delivery arrives. He even gets around the fingerprint lock on her phone.

2. KAREN INUKAI = a schoolgirl who's sexually attracted to a dog. Is she a pervert? Well, d'uh. She shares a bath with him, does a sort of licking/kissing on his nose, wears sexy outfits for him and gets scary-jealous if he snuggles up to other girls. (This is symbolised by her red eyes.) She dislikes Pochita getting inside another girl's clothes, for instance, and might complain that even she hasn't got that far with him yet. She then lifts her dress and orders him to burrow into her crotch. WHAT THE HELL? That was a special kind of deranged, even for anime.

This show has crushingly unsubtle names. Hers means "dog-keeper".

3. MIKE NEKOTANI (pronounced mee-ke, not "mike") = her name contains the kanji for "cat" and she's scared of dogs. Her colour is yellow.

4. USAGI TSUKISHIRO = her name means "rabbit" and she's... no, honestly, I'm not joking... she's Inukai's declared rival for Pochita's sexual affections. She knew him when he was human. They were in the same school gardening club and she'd made confusing attempts to make him jealous and pay attention to her. She hasn't worked out the doggy truth, of course, but she and Inukai are liable to issue perverted challenges. They agree that the dog likes boobs, knickers, etc. and have competitions like "whoever's skirt Pochita enters will be the winner!"

So, yes, this show is ridiculous. What makes it off-putting as well is the panty shots. A tiny dog can look up skirts, right? Inukai will go dog-walking, trip and give Pochita a nose-in-crotch experience that puts his nose inside her knickers. This show's panty shots are so brazen and huge that they're ten times creepier and more off-putting than they would have been anyway. They're certainly not sexy. They'll make you want to call the authorities.

Also, there are wet shirts, schoolgirls in the changing room and a scene in the second OVA where Pochita's tail brings a girl to orgasm. The show's replete with nudity and toplessness. Yes, there will be nipples on the Blu-rays.

Should anyone watch this show? If you're normal, no. (You'll think it's silly, pathetic and too lightweight to be worth anyone's time.) If you're a sleazehound, no. (Nudity is plentiful, but the panty shots are ewwwwww.) If you're trash-diving... well, maybe, sort of. The cast are nice, bar Inukai's slightly sinister jealousy, and I didn't mind spending time with them. So they're perverts. Whatever floats their boat. Make sure you hunt down the uncensored episodes, though, because there's no point in watching a toned-down version of anything.
