It's another hentai based on a pornographic ELF game... and I loved it. It's gentle, happy and fun. The first series is an interesting mystery with an unexpectedly mature conclusion, after which the second series is a comedy.

Our hero, Musashi Sasaki, returns to his grandmother's village for the first time in fifteen years. (Getting there took an hour-long hike through the mountains.) Girls his age greet him in delight and are horrified when he doesn't remember them. They're his only mental blank, mind you. Everything else he remembers perfectly. The scenery, the weather, the rivers... all those are as familiar as if he'd only left the village yesterday. Suzaku, Nami, Mayuki and Anzu, though, had been wiped from his mind.

This is hentai, so, yes, there will be sex scenes... but those are sensitive, realistic and even witty. Suzaku gets frustrated because he can't fit inside her, for instance, which is believable with two inexperienced partners but it hadn't occurred to her as a possibility and you hardly ever see something like that in hentai. These scenes are full of dialogue, with both partners checking that everything's okay and saying what they want. Musashi isn't predatory and indeed after shagging his second girl will briefly feel guilty about it. (The girls, in contrast, cheerfully compare notes on him and regard him as their communal property. Also, the sex scenes are based in story and characterisation, not just the fact that this happens to be a hentai. The girls' feelings are genuine and go back fifteen years. It's warm and rather lovely.)

A supernatural explanation is hidden in plain sight. Everything fits together satisfyingly, the mysteries are resolved and it's a well-told story. The ending is slightly bittersweet (albeit for intelligent reasons), but it'll be sorted out in the sequel.

Series 1 could be funny, e.g. Anzu's cooking, but this sequel is a hoot. I kept laughing, either at jokes or at character reactions. It's so clearly a comedy that the animators occasionally go overboard with goofy faces that for me over-egged the pudding.

Musashi returns to the village... probably, perhaps. There's a sexy girl (Tamamo) who'll make you suspicious in a way we never got with Suzaku, Nami, Mayuki and Anzu. (They're here too, obviously.) Musashi's had his memory wiped again, but this process is starting to fail with him and he's learning to resist. He's also unhappy about his mind getting edited. The comedy here includes: (a) sex scenes that are even wittier than last time, often making me laugh aloud. Those girls don't think and react like ordinary humans, do they? (b) Musashi vs. the girls' parents. "Why are youkai parents all so rubbish?" I laughed at him scolding the dragon king too.

The plot's better than I'd expected, but it's quite lightweight. Even the baddies are ultimately a bit silly, although I liked the climactic Musashi-Tamamo conversation. Musashi does the right thing, then Tamamo does too. The ending is correct for the characters (being one of the vanishingly few occasions when a harem ending works) and thankfully has no memory-wiping. Last time, the youkai had been wondering what was best for Musashi without consulting the man himself, but that's no longer an option here and Musashi's own vote is to stay with the girls. Mind you, they'll need a rota. Musashi needs rest days.

Side-note: this series is unrelated to the Koihime Musou TV series that's also based on an eroge. That had at most mild nudity and ran on TV for three seasons.

In summary, another ELF keeper! Again, despite being hentai.
