Magical girl hentai tend to follow a horrifying and almost unwatchable template. Their magical girls get captured, violated, brainwashed, gang-banged, etc. Superpowers are useless and these theoretically empowering heroines become screaming, sobbing victims.

This is better than that. It's also surprisingly plot-heavy, with almost no sex at all in the first episode. An alien organisation called Hamerudah wants to conquer our world, for which they need energy that's only found in human wombs. However, the planet Earth has defenders! Magical girls can save the day! The distressing bit is that their magical batteries are basically rape-powered. If some Hamerudah baddies capture, grope and molest one, after they've finished she'll punch them all into a tornado that shoots them off into the sky.

The girls themselves are normal and likeable. The plot's pretty solid, underneath its hentai trappings. The nude transformation sequence is obviously far more lurid than Sailor Moon's, but you expected that. There are even flashes of humour, e.g. (after defeating three baddies) "Whoops, what have I just done? I needed to ask where their base is!"

It's based on a game that last time I looked was still available on Steam. The anime's less appalling than I'd expected... but it should definitely still be avoided.

Like Magical Valkyrie Lyristia, it's a magical girl hentai based on an adult game. The two shows' openings are almost identical. Featureless shadow-men are assaulting schoolgirls, albeit here on the orders of a buxom purple demoness. One of those Japanese schoolgirls, though, picks up a magic wand that happens to be lying on the ground (why?) and transforms into a blonde superheroine!

This show is, though, much duller and more repellent than Lyristia. The girl gets captured by her enemies and molested non-stop for the rest of the show's screen time.

What this means is that an employer is sexually abusing a powerless employee who can't do anything to stop it, has nowhere to turn and hates it. Ewwwww.

"This is the House of Fortune Telling, run by Magical Mojikawa, an apprentice witch. In short, it's my shop. Since I use magic, I'm more accurate than normal fortune-tellers, but this is giving me problems. My divination is accurate regarding romance. I could sugarcoat it, but I don't like telling lies. That's why I don't get many customers and in particular I'm having trouble with two things. The first involves making a stable income. And the other one is about a future romance involving myself that I've been foreseeing."

The show's main couple is Magical Mojikawa and her cute blonde male customer. He fancies her, but unfortunately she can read every dirty thought in his head. Whoops. In the past, she's used magic to fend off awkward customers, but for some reason this time she decides not to. They settle into a comfortable, likeable and very dirty relationship.

Towards the end, though, we also meet Mamma Mojikawa, the mother of Magical Mojikawa. She's more experienced than her daughter and she's found a green-haired elf hotel attendant she likes. She'll express her affection physically.

This hentai's friendly, happy and unremarkable. No one cheats on anyone and I liked the levitating fortune telling cards. If I met a fortune teller who could do that, I'd trust her predictions too.

I don't think there's a studio behind this. It's just a short crowdfunded thing with no plot (although a second girl appears right at the closing credits, so maybe they had an idea of making a sequel one day).

An affectionate, childish girl (Mayuki) with absolutely enormous boobs has sex with her boyfriend (Mii-kun). That's it. Nothing else happens in this episode, unless you count some chatting at the beginning and agreeing to go out on a date tomorrow. That said, though, the episode's better than you'd think from that one-line description and at one point its dialogue made me laugh. Miyuki asks the classical Japanese Wife Sex Question ("Would you like dinner, a bath or me?") to which Mii-kun replies, "Ah, indeed... all of those! At the same time!"

I assumed this would be hentai trash, with everyone doing depraved things for no reason except that they're in a hentai. I was wrong. It's not that at all.

Two married couples are having dinner together. The Suzukawas (Kanade and Reiji) are trying for a baby. On the other hand, the Miharas (Kousuke and Asuka) have marital issues and Asuka isn't afraid to get drunk and start shouting in front of the Suzukawas. Kousuke cheats on her. Asuka says she doesn't need a husband like that, offers him to Kanade and announces that she'll sleep with Reiji tonight. Soon afterwards, she storms out. She wasn't serious about the wife-swapping, of course... but then Asuka and Reiji find that Kanade and Kousuke took her at her word and are shagging right now.

The episode's genuinely okay. I'm mildly interested in seeing where things go next (although the general direction is a foregone conclusion). It's a proper story and everyone has distinct characterisation, even the almost mute and demure Kanade. There's a slight pause before she reacts when Reiji says to her, "You two get on well. I'm jealous of you."

It's an NTR hentai (i.e. infidelity). Yunika's best friend Risa recently got a boyfriend, Satsukawa Kazuma. He's also Risa's home tutor. Unfortunately, Yunika's jealous about having her best friend taken away and keeps giving Kazuma the cold shoulder.

Guess what happens. Yunika opens a door and sees Risa shagging Kazuma, but he just raises a finger to shush her. Yunika shuts the door again. Guess what happens before long. Hint: it's a hentai. Before long, we're seeing a condom being put on orally and Yunika jerking off Kazuma during casual conversation. We're told that she's improved her fellatio skills because he's giving her so much practice. She also masturbates at the door as she eavesdrops on Risa and Kazuma together.

Kazuma's uninteresting, but I liked the Yunika-Risa relationship, which is charming, affectionate and in the onsen even suggests lesbian subtext. They have a mutual boob grope and Yunika says, "I could get to like your body." Unfortunately, the last scene has all three main characters in the same bedroom and they're not heading for a happy threesome. Instead, it's a downer ending, which is deserved by two of our protagonists but Risa hadn't done anything wrong. She's pretending to be asleep as she listens to Yunika shagging her boyfriend.

An unhappy little story. I couldn't recommend it.
